Teen Held for Open Murder in Fatal Stabbing

SPARKS, NV - A 15-year-old boy is charged with open murder, believed to have stabbed a man in the chest, killing him.

Shortly before 10PM Monday, September 1, 2014, officers responded to the report of a stabbing in the 400 block of 11th Street. The victim was taken to Renown Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been released.

Witnesses told police the man was confronted by two teenage boys, possibly Hispanic, leading to a fight during which the man was stabbed. The teens then ran off.

Police say 15-year-old Carlos Montoya is being charged as an adult. Police questioned another teen, but let him go. They have not released information about a motive.
