Sparks Police Investigate Armed Robbery Near Nugget

SPARKS, NV - Sparks police are looking for the person who robbed a 65-year-old woman at gunpoint Thursday night.

Police say about 9:45PM, the woman left John Ascuaga's Nugget, where she works, and walked to an employee parking lot at 14th and Victorian. As she stepped partially into her car, she heard someone demand her purse, then turned her head to find the barrel of a handgun in her face. The person again demanded her purse, which she gave up. He then ran off toward the RTC bus terminal southwest of the intersection of 14th Street and Victorian Ave.

The woman describes the robber as 17-20 years old with a very light complexion, clean-shaven and wearing a black hoodie with a white shirt beneath. At the time of the robbery, the hoodie was placed over the robber's head, concealing some of his features.

The victim went back to the Nugget, where she reported the crime and the loss of her purse containing identification, an iPhone and several other personal items.

Secret Witness is offering a $1,500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the suspect wanted in connection with this robbery.

The Sparks Police Department is asking anyone with information as to the identity of the person responsible for this crime to call dispatch at 353-2231 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
