SPARKS, NV - The Sparks Police Department is investigating a possible kidnapping and sexual assault.

Sparks police say they were contacted by the Modesto Police Department around 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, regarding the possible kidnapping of two girls.

Sparks police say Modesto PD advised that their investigation led them to believe a male suspect, Nicholas Rider Wessel, had the two girls with him at John Ascuaga's Nugget.

Sparks police went to the Nugget and found Wessel and the two girls.

They say the girls ran away from their homes, and that one girl knew Wessel.

After convincing the girls to come with him to Nevada, Wessel drove them from Modesto to the Sparks Nugget, according to Sparks police.

Sparks police say after Wessel rented a room, he had non consensual sex with the 14-year-old girl.

The three were taken into custody shortly after the sexual assault, according to Sparks police.

Sparks police say, upon further investigation, they found a camera that belonged to Wessel in the hotel room. Several images of children were found in the camera, according to Sparks police.

They say some of the images were of the 14-year-old girl.

Wessel was booked on two counts of kidnapping, sexual assault, production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Sparks Police Department or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
