SPARKS, NV – Sparks police arrested a man they say is a well-known gang member Thursday night. According to police, officers were called to area of 21st Street and Prater Way for reports of a fight. Someone called police saying that people inside a blue Ford Explorer were flashing gang signs at a group of juveniles. At one point, one of the people inside the SUV got out with a crowbar. The caller also told police that the males inside the vehicle were known gang members and one of them was nicknamed “Diablo.” Police then checked the area and couldn’t find the vehicle.
At 6:26pm an officer found a vehicle that matched the description at the 7-Eleven on Pyramid Way. According to police, when the officer was talking to the people in the vehicle, one man made a run for it. Officers chased him down and saw Luis Uriel Acuna-Grajeda toss a handgun and two baggies of drugs, which are believed to be
methamphetamine. Police say an officer ultimately had to use a taser to subdue him and was bitten by a K-9 officer at the same time. Acuna-Grajeda was taken to Northern Nevada Medical for injuries from the dog bites. He was then taken to Washoe County Jail and booked on several charges including trafficking, possession of controlled substances for sale and ex-felon in possession of a firearm.
