Sparks Police Arrest Suspect in Connection with a Rash of Burglaries

SPARKS, Nev. -- Sparks Police Department (SPD) officers arrested a man accused in connection with several residential, commercial, and storage unit burglaries... and woke up a whole neighborhood at the same time.

SPD officials say while investigating the burglaries, several sources told detectives 40-year-old Troy Wise was accepting stolen property from people in exchange for money and drugs.

Police say Wise has a criminal history and there were reports of guns being in his home on the 400 block of 9th Street. For those reasons, SWAT was called in to execute an arrest warrant. They planned the operation for the early morning hours of Friday, April 26th.

Neighbors tell KOLO 8 News Now they awoke after 4:00 am Friday to loud banging and popping noises they described as being like gunfire. However, SPD officials do not report any weapons were fired during the operation.

Detectives say they found hundreds of items they believe were taken in various burglaries. Many of them have already been identified as stolen. Investigators will allow people who have reported burglaries and missing property to see the items they confiscated in hopes of identifying even more pieces of evidence.

Police say several other suspects are still out there and more arrests are expected in this case. If you think you were a victim of a burglary that may be connected to this case, you can call SPD at (775) 353-2450.

During the operation, a woman, Raquel Casarez, was arrested for a single count of child neglect unrelated to the stolen property case.
