Sparks PD Ask for Help Finding Possible Child Luring Suspect

SPARKS, Nev. -- Sparks Police officials are asking for help identifying a possible child luring suspect, and now there is a $1000 reward.

Police say a 15-year-old Sparks girl told officers a man tried to coax her into his car on Friday morning. It happened in the 500 block of Sullivan Lane while the girl was walking to a friend's house.

Investigators say the teen was walking south on Sullivan when an SUV going north flipped a U-turn and pulled alongside her. Police say the driver then asked if he could give her a ride. She ignored him.

Officers say he then pulled into an apartment complex, stopped at the exit driveway, and again asked if he could give her a ride. Investigators say she again ignored him.

The driver then got out of the car, according to police, and asked a third time to give the girl a ride. She continued to ignore him and turned into a gated complex a short distance away. That is when the man left the area.

Police describe the car as a gold-colored, four-door SUV, maybe a GMC, with Nevada plates.

Police describe the driver as an African American man, 30 to 40 years old, about six feet tall and 160 to 170 pounds. Police say he had corn rows that were about collar-length and a slight southern accent.
