MINDEN, Nev. (AP) - The son of a Douglas County sheriff's captain has been sentenced to prison for pointing a loaded gun at his father who was intervening in a child custody dispute.
The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports Matthew Aymami was sentenced by District Judge Dave Gamble last week.
Aymami pleaded guilty to one count of attempted assault with a
deadly weapon in November. Prosecutors dropped a child abuse charge.
On July 12, Aymami pointed a loaded .45-caliber handgun at his
father, Capt. David Aymami as the elder man tried to convince his son to comply with a court-ordered custody agreement in a pending divorce.
Police officers were at the home to enforce the agreement.
The father and son struggled with the weapon before officers could subdue the younger Aymami.
