The snow is still coming down at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, and the snow is expected to continue through Saturday. According to a press release today, the second early storm of the season has delivered 12 inches to Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows as of 8 a.m. this morning. With just two weeks until Squaw Valley’s scheduled opening day, this storm is stoking the enthusiasm for skiers and riders hankering to get some turns in this season. Squaw Valley is slated to open on Wednesday, November 21 and Alpine Meadows is scheduled to open Wednesday, December 7.

In typical Tahoe fashion, the snow storm came in hard and fast yesterday with another wave expected this afternoon. Scattered showers are expected through Saturday with the potential to bring an additional 4-8 inches of snow to the Lake Tahoe resorts.
In addition to the fresh foot of natural snow, the crews at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows are taking advantage of the low temperatures and are hard at work blowing snow at both resorts with their new and improved snowmaking systems. Current conditions are ideal for snowmaking with temperatures hovering around 19 degrees, light wind and 67 percent humidity.

Skiers and riders looking to take full advantage of this season’s snowfall still have a chance to purchase their Squaw and Alpine season passes, the Tahoe Super Pass, before prices go up after December 7. Starting at $429 for adults, the Tahoe Super Pass offers season-long access to 6,000 acres, 43 lifts and over 270 trails at Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. The resorts’ first-ever unrestricted college pass starts at just $389, prices guaranteed through December 17. Both the Tahoe Super Pass and the College Tahoe Super Pass are available for purchase at www.tahoesuperpass.com.
