SPARKS, NV - One man is in custody and one in a hospital because of a road rage shooting Monday morning.

According to Sparks police, two drivers were involved in some sort of altercation several miles east of Reno on Interstate 80. The driver of a Mustang says the driver of an SUV had been tailgating him in an area where the speed limit changes from 75 to 65 miles per hour.

Both drivers stopped for a red light at the top of the Vista westbound offramp about 9am. Police say the Mustang driver got out and confronted the driver of the SUV, who then allegedly shot the driver of the Mustang in the chest. He's being treated at Renown Regional Medical Center, where police say he's in stable condition.

Police have not released any names. The ramp opened back up to traffic about 2pm.
