RENO, Nev. - Washoe County Regional Animal Services has captured a black male pit bull that had been on the loose much of the day.
The 9-month-old named Throttle was loose in the area of the 3200 block of South Virginia Street. The dog was considered unpredictable and was showing signs of aggression, according to Animal Control, saying he had bitten his owner before running off Thursday morning.
Washoe Regional Animal Services, Washoe County deputies, Reno police and Washoe County School Police searched for the dog, which was found near Shoppers' Square Thursday afternoon.
A Code Red telephone alert was issued through Washoe Dispatch to residents in the immediate search area, and parents and school bus drivers were urged to keep kids safe near area bus stops.
Animal Control will meet with the dog's family to determine his fate.
