ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A fight between two Peruvian sheepherders at an isolated camp in northeast Nevada landed one in jail in Elko over the weekend on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

Elko County sheriff's deputies say 20-year-old Aldo Beraun and the other sheepherder were drinking at the camp near Gold Creek Canyon when verbal insults turned physical.

Beraun is accused of breaking a beer bottle and holding it to the neck of the victim, who suffered multiple puncture wounds.

Undersheriff Clair Morris told the Elko Daily Free Press he probably needed stitches, but refused treatment. His name was not released.

Morris says Beraun's ranch foreman bailed him out of jail Monday morning and he has returned to tending sheep pending a court appearance, which had not been set.
