Shakeup: Two Pack Assistants Fired, One Reassigned

RENO - There has been a major shakeup with the Wolf Pack football staff.

A school source told KOLO-TV that assistant coach Scott Baumgartner was let go on Thursday night. He had spent the last nine seasons at Nevada, the final seven as their wide receivers coach.

FootballScoop.com is also reporting that James Ward was fired as the cornerbacks coach. A Reno TV station had reported on Wednesday night that he was being retained by new head coach Brian Polian. Ward had been with the Wolf Pack for five seasons.

That same station also reported that Associate Head Coach Ken Wilson was fired. Football Scoop has refuted that report, saying that Wilson was instead offered a different position in the program. Wilson has been with the Wolf Pack for 19 seasons. He was also the linebackers coach.

The changes continue. Football Scoop is also reporting that Larry Lewis is interviewing for a job at Virginia. He spent last season as the running backs and special teams coach.

That's five, and potentially six spots to fill on the staff. D-Line coach Barry Sacks has already taken a job at California, and O-Line coach Darren Hiller has moved on to Cincinnati.
