DOUGLAS, Nev. Severe weather may have played a part in a crash that killed one woman in Douglas County.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen says the accident happened just before 3 Sunday afternoon on US Highway 50 at Glenbrook in Douglas County.

Trooper Allen says a white Toyota Corolla was traveling west in the inside lane of the 4-lane highway. The driver, 29-year-old Eduardo A. Vizcarra-Sicairos from Lodi, California, lost control of the vehicle and skidded sideways across the double-yellow line and into the path a blue Hyundai.

The Hyundai was driven by 26-year-old Shanna D. White of Carson City. Shanna had two passengers riding in the vehicle with her: 21-year-old Kellie Kerkla and 21-year-old Katelyn Kraiprai, both from Carson City.

The front of the Hyundai struck the right side of the Toyota, killing Vizcarra-Sicairos' wife, 24-year-old Reyna Vizcaara, who was riding in the right front passenger seat. She was pronounced dead on scene.

All four patients were taken to Renown Regional Medical Center for treatment of various injuries.

Three of the lanes were blocked for several hours while investigators completed their on-scene portion of the investigation. Troopers and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office assisted with temporary traffic control duties. All travel lanes were cleared and opened at around 7:40 pm.

At the time of the crash heavy rain and hail were falling and the highway was very wet and weather may have been one of the contributing factors in this collision.
