CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A Senate committee is set to consider outlawing horse-tripping and steer-tailing at Nevada rodeos.
SB72 sponsored by Democratic Sen. Mark Manendo of Las Vegas would ban two harmful events at some rodeos. Horse-tripping is when a person trips a running horse by throwing a rope at its front legs. The second is steer-tailing, where a rider on horseback pulls a running steer's tail until it stops. Both can kill the animals.
The Senate Natural Resources Committee on Tuesday also will consider SJR1, a resolution expressing support for Nevada's wild horses and burros.
