Search Continues for Suspect in Home Burglary and Chase

SPARKS, NV - Police in Sparks and the surrounding areas are on the lookout for the person involved in a home burglary and high speed chase.

Late Thursday night, Sparks police responded to reports of a residential burglary in the 500 block of 6th Street. Officers arrived to find the home ransacked with several guns and a vehicle missing.

A short time later, the vehicle, a 2000 Gray GMC pickup, was spotted on El Rancho Drive. At this point, a high-speed chase began. The suspect went back and forth between Sparks and Reno, then entered I-80 eastbound. The Nevada Highway Patrol, the Storey County Sheriff's Office and the Lyon County Sheriff's Office all assisted in trying to catch the suspect. Pursuit of the suspect was called off when he entered the city of Fernley.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic adult male with dark short hair who appeared to be in his late twenties to early thirties. Officers believe he is armed with the stolen weapons and may be dangerous if approached.

The stolen vehicle is a 2000 Gray GMC pickup with step-up sides and Nevada plates 728VEE.
