CARSON CITY, NV – The Nevada Highway Patrol is still investigating an overnight high-speed chase.
Nevada Highway Patrol Lt. Carl Johnson told KOLO 8 News Now the chase started a little before 11:30 Thursday night in Stagecoach when a trooper tried to pull a white Dodge Charger over for failure to yield. NHP says two black males and two black females were inside the car. The driver then sped off and turned off his headlights. The trooper lost sight of the car and alerted the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office.
According to NHP, deputies spotted the suspect’s car in Dayton heading west on Highway 50. The chase then went through Carson City and officials believed the car was headed to Reno. More agencies were called in to help, including a RAVEN helicopter. At some point, authorities lost sight of the car and it was eventually spotted back in Carson City.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office, the driver and three passengers ditched the car on Heaven Hill Way around 12:30AM and ran off. NHP tells us one female passenger was located, questioned and released. The other three people are still being sought.
The Nevada Highway Patrol has taken the lead in this investigation, which has seen information change over several hours.
