SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - Officers from several agencies are looking for a northern California man and a Nevada woman who haven't been seen since they left a Sacramento suburb to drive through the Sierra to Gardnerville, Nev. last Thursday.
Our ABC Affiliate from Sacramento, News10, reports that 44-year-old Roderick Paul Clifton and 46-year-old Paula Lane were reported missing by relatives when they left Citrus Heights, a Sacramento suburb, and didn't return to Nevada that night. Neither party has been heard from since nor are they answering their cellular telephones.
Citrus Heights police Det. Sgt. Lee Harrington told the station that because the couple would have been driving on Sierra highways in stormy weather, police notified other California and Nevada law enforcement agencies.
They are driving a Dark Blue, 1989 Jeep Cherokee, Lic # 4VPB789. Their usual route is HWY50 into Tahoe, then onto HWY89.
Herrington says deputies from California's El Dorado and Alpine counties, and from Nevada's Douglas County, are searching for the couple. The California Highway Patrol has also joined in the search.
Citrus Heights Police Department Investigators have found no evidence the missing parties are involved in criminal activity or have met with foul play.
The drive from Citrus Heights to Gardnerville is about 117 miles.
