RENO, NV - The Washoe County School District Board of Trustees has approved a system that will allow the public to view how taxpayer funding is used.
"Open Checkbook" will feature a database that will allow the public to view a database that contains items such as vendor contracts, employee salaries and capital funding.
The site will allow the public an accurate picture of how the WCSD uses taxpayer funds to support the academic goals of its 63,000 students.
Community members asked the WCSD to provide more detailed information on how public funding is used.
Open Checkbook supports the WCSD strategic plan’s goal of providing online access to educational, operational, and financial data in support of District-wide decision-making and accountability.
