RENO, NV - The Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada is warning the public of a telephone scam that involves a person requesting donations on behalf of local fire fighters.

Residents of Northern Nevada have received phone calls requesting financial donations to help with training and taking care of injured fire fighters, according to Rusty McAllister, president of the Professional Fire Fighters of Nevada (PFFN).

McAllister says PFFN never solicits money from the community be telephone, saying PFFN raises money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through the boot drive and during the Coats for Kids campaign.

The official says the PFFN board members are taking this matter very seriously and ask all residents to spread the word about this falsely identified phone campaign.
