SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - A San Francisco lawmaker has introduced legislation that would ask voters to rename the city's airport after slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk.

Supervisor David Campos on Tuesday introduced the charter amendment that would put the question of creating Harvey Milk-San Francisco International Airport on San Francisco's November ballot.

Campos says the proposed name change will be sent to committee within a few weeks, then returned to the Board of Supervisors.

To get it on the ballot, five of Campos' colleagues must agree to submit the proposed name change to voters.

Milk's nephew says that if voters agree to the change, the city would host the world's first airport honoring an openly gay person.
