SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA - An SUV crashed into a Denny's restaurant in South Lake Tahoe just before 9:00 Thursday morning. When South Lake Tahoe Police arrived at the scene att 2870 Lake Tahoe Blvd, they found 28-year-old Todd Jackson still behind the wheel of his 2002 Dodge Durango. The South Lake Tahoe resident had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Fire Department. Jackson suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Renown in Reno for treatment of his injuries. Jackson's two sons, 11-year-old and 8-year-old boys, were transported to Barton Hospital where they were treated and released.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation. Preliminary reports indicate that Jackson possibly suffered a medical emergency while driving his two kids to Tahoe Valley Elementary, causing him to drive across the west bound traffic lanes, off the roadway between the entrance to South Tahoe Middle School and Al Tahoe Blvd. Jackson's vehicle then proceeded back onto Al Tahoe Blvd and crashed into the north east corner of Denny's.
