SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA- A concrete supplier in South Lake Tahoe is facing allegations of fraud, suspected of falsifying documents that certify the quality of their product. This week, warrants were served at Sierra-Tahoe Ready Mix on Highway 50, and a home related to the business. While that investigation is just getting started, concerns loom over the quality of concrete sold by the vendor for city funded construction products.
"There potentially could be an issue there, but we just don't know at this time," explains City of South Lake Tahoe Director of Public Works, Ray Jarvis. He says tests may be done on concrete purchased from the company for previous projects. Investigators are still deciding whether to pursue criminal charges based on the evidence they're collecting. If anyone believes they may have been a victim of fraud, or has any information regarding this matter, please contact the El Dorado County District Attorney's Office at (530) 621-6484.
