SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - One of the main arrival runways at San Francisco International Airport is closed this weekend and will shut down again over two more weekends later this month.

Airport spokesman Mike McCarron says that could mean delays for some incoming travelers, especially for flights arriving during the peak hours of 10am to 2pm.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports crews will be working to extend and install lighting on Runway 28-L through Monday morning.

McCarron recommends passengers contact their airlines about potential delays over the weekend. He says flights that depart from areas within a two-hour radius of SFO could experience up to 90-minute delays.

The runway will close again from Sept. 21-24 and Sept. 28-Oct. 1, during the hours of 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Monday.
