Ron Paul Supporters Poised to Dominate NV

SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Nevada Republicans are holding their state convention, where supporters of Ron Paul's presidential bid are poised to dominate attendees, force a possible showdown over selection of national convention delegates and exert grassroots muscle to shape the state party.

Saturday's convention in Sparks comes after a lawyer for the Republican National Committee suggested Nevada's presence at the national convention could be jeopardized if Paul supporters swamp the state delegate contingent.

Mitt Romney won Nevada's Republican caucuses with half the vote, and under party rules delegates to the national convention are to be allotted proportionally to the caucus outcome.

Delegates to the state convention will also elect a committeeman and committeewoman to represent Nevada on the Republican National ommittee.

Current RNC members Heidi Smith and former Gov. Bob List are being challenged.
