WESTERVILLE, Ohio (AP) - Mitt Romney says the nation's economy is recovering. But he says it could be recovering much faster.
The presumptive Republican presidential nominee blames President
Barack Obama for presiding over what he calls the "most anemic and
tepid" economic recovery since the Great Depression.
But speaking to Ohio voters, Romney ignored new signs that the
recovery may be slowing.
The Commerce Department estimated Friday that the economy grew
at 2.2 percent over the first three months of the year. That's compared to 3 percent growth in the previous three months.
Romney avoided citing Obama by name in his first public comments
since declaring himself the GOP nominee Tuesday night. He promised to try to unite America and warned against what he calls Obama's "government-dominated society."
