RENO, NV - Two Sun Valley residents are safe but without a home after their house caught on fire early Friday morning.

Reno firefighters arrived at the home in the 300 block of Sugar Hill Dr. just after 4:00 a.m. to find heavy smoke and fire in the front rooms of the house. According to Battalion Chief Todd Keckley, the crews "made an immediate interior attack."

By 4:20 a.m., firefighters had the fire completely knocked down with the primary search complete.

The residents were able to escape before fire crews arrived.

The fire caused severe damage to the front rooms and smoke damage throughout the home. The cause is still under investigation.

The American Red Cross is providing shelter for both residents. The Reno Fire Department was assisted by the Washoe County Sheriff's Office, REMSA and NV Energy.
