PROVO - BYU senior linebacker Kyle Van Noy has been named the FBS Independent Defensive Player of the Week.

It's the second week in a row he's earned this honor, and the fifth time in his college career.

Van Noy scored a defensive touchdown against Utah State, making an interception on the first offensive play of the game. It was his fifth career touchdown, a school record at BYU.

He finished with five tackles, including one for loss, a pass breakup and a quarterback hurry in BYU's 31-14 win.

Van Noy is a graduate of McQueen high school in northwest Reno.
