RENO, NV - Reno police have confirmed the alleged shooter of three at a Reno Wal-Mart is in custody following a standoff that began Friday morning.

John Gillane surrendered without incident and is charged with three counts of attempted murder.

Reno police Lt. Mohammad Rafqat said,"I'm very happy he is out and the situation didn't escalate. We convinced him the best move was to surrender."

Police say it all started when Gillane shot three male employees, then barricaded himself inside a back office of the Wal-Mart on Kietzke Lane.

At least nine heavily-armed officers entered the store, and police spent about two hours negotiating with Gillane before he finally surrendered. Police arrested Gillane and confiscated his handgun.

One of the victims was critically wounded, but "the prognosis is good for all of them," said Dan Fogleman, a spokesman for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. The victims were all rushed to Renown Medical Center. One victim has been released from the hospital, but the other two are still being treated for injuries. Police have yet to release their identities.

Police say Gillane was still a worker at the shopping center when the shootings began. Discussions were to take place Friday morning about his possible termination. Police say there’s still no clear motive, and the incident is still under investigation.

The store was evacuated soon after authorities surrounded the establishment following reports of shots fired. Many employees loaded onto RTC buses.

Shocked,
I have to agree with you. I also have worked for Walmart over 7 years. Its a great place to work. Unfortunately there are losers out there that snap and jeopardize the safety of our associates. Now this is not the first time a business has had someone go on a rampage. Look at the post office. McDonald's, even the military. So all you people out there that want to hack on Walmart at the expense of some unlucky associates you should be ashamed of yourselves. They are human beings. If it was your family I'm sure you would react differently. May God bless the 3 associates and their families. I pray for you to have a speedy recovery.

I believe this man was put under a lot of pressure at Walmart he probably was not treated fairly and he wasnt in the popular group of Walmart therefore he was treated wrongfully which leaded him to stressing out which lead to him exploding and just getting back at all those employees Walmart needs to treat every individual with respect and all management needs to follow the rules and be ethical
