Acting Reno Police Chief Resigning

RENO, NV - The Reno City Council will be looking for a new police chief soon.

Acting Chief Steve Pitts sent a memo to his staff Friday, announcing he is leaving the department after 32 years. He says he wants to spend more time with family.

He's held several positions, including leading a SWAT team and heading up detectives.

His last day on the job will be March 24th, but the city council hasn't set a timetable for replacing him.

Pitts was named acting chief last April to replace Michael Poehlman, who retired.
