Reno Rodeo Rides into Town Thursday

RENO, NV - The 95th annual Reno Rodeo kicks off Thursday. Organizers expect a sold-out show for opening night.

"We are one of only seven rodeos in the country where you can be guaranteed that you're going to see the best of the best in every event," Reno Rodeo Association Executive Director Steve Duque said. "We really try to cater to putting on a great event and providing an amazing atmosphere for everyone, whether you're a die-hard rodeo fan or just want to come down here and enjoy a great show."

They're expecting 150,000 to pack the stands over the next ten days. Proceeds help support the Rodeo's mission of giving back to the community.

"We give back to the community 355 days a year whether it's time, talent or treasure," Reno Rodeo Director of Communications Steve Schroeder said. "Through our foundation we support 1,800 kids in foster care here in Northern Nevada. We give out $400,000 a year and we've given away more than half a million in scholarships to UNR. These are kids coming from rural communities in Nevada and we just want to give them that extra opportunity."
