RENO -- Some residents of Reno's University Ridge neighborhood say they are worried about noise and dust at an industrial area. The industrial area is on Gaslight Lane near homes.
C4 Equity LLC is seeking a special use permit for concrete and asphalt crushing for retail recycling at the location, according to public documents.
"I know I'll be able to hear it I know I will every time they back up I'll hear it," Lee McCord, a resident of the neighborhood said.
"Prevailing winds are going to snake that dust cloud all over this development," Bob Titus said.
C4 Equity LLC of Incline Village did not return a message by deadline. However, the applicant told the planning commission the site has been used for industrial use since the 1960s. Documents also said the applicant said noise and dust would have to be kept within regulated levels.
Fred Turnier, Reno's community development director, said the company has reached out to residents to try to address concerns.
The planning commission is recommending approval of the special use permit.
Noel English, who lives in the neighborhood near the industrial site, said she has legal representation. She said wants to city to halt the project.
"Why does it have to be here in this area practically in the middle of Reno," English said.
The Reno City Council is scheduled to consider the issue Wednesday night starting at 6 p.m.
