Reno Resident Dies in Burn Center After House Fire

A local woman has died from injuries sustained during a July 27th structure fire in South Reno, according to the Reno Fire Department.

RENO,NV - A local woman has died from injuries sustained during a July 27th structure fire in South Reno, according to the Reno Fire Department.

Michelle Sherman, aged 61, suffered severe burns in a residential structure fire in the 7600 block of Rhinestone Circle near the Longley Lane and South Virginia Street Intersection.

According to the City of Reno, Sherman's neighbors pulled her from the burning townhouse. Sherman sustained second-degree burns to half of her body and was treated on scene by firefighters and REMSA paramedics. Sherman was initially transported to Renown Regional Medical Center and she was eventually flown to the University of California, Davis Burn Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
