Reno Police Make Arrest in Downtown Shooting

RENO, NV - Reno police have arrested a man they believe shot another man early Saturday morning downtown.

Police say they got the report of the shooting about 2:45AM August 2, 2014 in the area of N. Virginia Street and Plaza Street. They determined one group of people had been walking along Virginia Street and was met by another group. Words were exchanged and one person pulled a gun and shot one of the other people.

The bullet went through the victim’s arm and into the victim’s thigh. The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was released.

Police say they tracked the alleged shooter, 21-year-old Marcos Garcia, about a mile from the shooting, and that this is being investigated as a gang-related crime.

Police are saying this shooting did not occur during any Hot August Night event and none of the involved people was visiting, participating or affiliated with any Hot August Night event or venue.
