Juvenile Suspect Arrested in Connection with Stabbing Homicide

UPDATE: Officers with the Reno Police Department arrested a 17-year-old male in connection with the stabbing death that happened on Yori Avenue on October 12, 2013.

Officials say the suspect is charged with one count of open murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.

The juvenile suspect was arrested on October 16, 2013 around 8:45 p.m., according to Reno PD officials.


RENO, NV - Officials from the Reno Police Department are investigating a homicide that happened in the 2600 block of Yori Avenue.

On Saturday, October 12, 2013 around 4:15 a.m., Reno police officers responded to a report of an injured person in the 2600 block of Yori Avenue, according to an official with the Reno PD.

Officers discovered a Andrew Amezcua, 20, who was suffering from multiple stab wounds; the officers began to try to save the his life, according to an official with the Reno PD.

Officials say Amezcua was transported to the hospital where he declared deceased.

Officials say information indicates the victim was involved in an altercation with one or more unidentified people.

The investigation is on-going and the Reno Police Department is asking the anyone with information regarding this stabbing to contact RPD or Secret Witness.

Secret Witness is offering a reward in the amount of $2,500.00 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) wanted into connection with this homicide.
