RENO, NV - One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting Thursday afternoon in north Reno.
Washoe County sheriff's deputies tell us around 1:40PM, officers from the Sparks Police Department responded to a report of a suicidal subject armed with a gun in the 3200 block of Wedekind Road.
Deputies say 27-year-old Kenneth Stafford was found near the 2100 block of Belcrest Circle in Reno. While officers were attempting to investigate the circumstances and negotiate with him, an officer-involved shooting happened, according to investigators. No more specifics have been released.
Stafford was taken to a hospital, where he died.
No officers were injured during the incident.
In accordance with the policies of the Reno and Sparks Police Departments, the involved officers have been placed on routine administrative leave.
