TRUCKEE, CA - A Reno man is seriously hurt after a crash over the state line in California Wednesday morning.
The California Highway Patrol says 76-year-old Donald Broyles was headed west on Interstate 80, about 50mph, near Hirschdale Road west of Reno. About 7:20AM Wednesday, officers say he lost control, changed lanes and smashed into a steel barrier.
He went through the barrier and down an embankment, landing along the Truckee River. He was taken to Tahoe Forest Hospital with what officers say are major injuries.
The CHP is still investigating, but says Broyles wasn't drinking or on other drugs.
