RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 51-year-old Reno woman will serve three to seven and a half years in prison for the death of a toddler who got into her prescription methadone while she was babysitting him in January 2009.

Washoe District Judge David Hardy sentenced Gina Lindquist Thursday after she pleaded guilty to child neglect causing substantial harm in the death of 4-year-old Sammy Sharber.

His mother, Angela Huntington, says she blames Lindquist for her son's death because Lindquist failed to lock up the methadone she takes for her heroin addiction.

Lindquist admitted she was tired and being lazy when she left the drug on a night stand when they went to sleep. She told the judge she loved the little boy like he was her own son.
