RENO - The Reed Raiders beat Liberty 35-31 on Saturday to advance to the Nevada State Championship game.
Chris Denn hit Trae Wells for a touchdown with just 34 seconds to go, sending Reed to next weekend's title game down in Las Vegas.
Denn passed for 201 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Wells had six receptions for 112 yards and a pair of scores. Jordan DeLeon led the rushing attack, running for 82 yards on 19 carries with three touchdowns.
Reed will face Bishop Gorman in the playoffs for the third year in a row. Gorman blew out Palo Verde 45-7 in the other semifinal game. Gorman has eliminated Reed the last two seasons.
The State Championship game is next Saturday, December 7th at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.
Reed is the northern champion for the third year in a row, and the fourth time in the last five seasons. But they're still in search of their first state title in school history.
