RENO, NV - The Washoe County Sheriff's office has released the name of a Reno Police Department officer involved in an accident Friday night in the area of Liberty and Center streets.

Chris Waddle was responding to a call with his sirens and lights on when his police Hummer crashed into a Honda, causing the police SUV to flip on its side.

A sheriff's spokesman says Waddle was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.

Waddle has worked for RPD for more than nine years.

The other driver had some minor injuries.

The Washoe County Major Accident Investigation Team is still investigating the accident.

Anon, again you don't know what you are talking about. VW, Mercedes, and BMW all make SUV'S.
I think, you are correct, there are other vehicles that would work fine. However they really are not less expensive then an H2. Yes peavine is county, however many times RPD assist Washoe county in off road pursuit as you should well know given your tenure here. I have seen multiple agencies on peavine and other areas several times. H2's, Jeeps, Durangos, and full size 4x4 pickups. My point originally was it doesn't matter what they drive but that they need this kind of vehicle in order to correctly perform the task at hand.

I was here before the 50's as you were not. I owned a Jeep CJ5 and others and have been all over the mountains and valley's of Nevada. As for the RPD going into Peavine, I believe that is the Sheriff that is responsible for those areas. RPD is "inside the city limits". Yes, it was probably donated which is fine. It just doesn't reflect well on the city when our tourists see it running around. It should have Donated By: XXXX on the side for the sake of tourism.

Charles thank you for the clarification. I didn't think it was an H2. An H3 is a relatively inexpensive vehicle. Designed to make peopl feel important by claiming they have a Hummer. I have driven them and they are nothing to brag about, but are a good utility vehicle for what RPD is needing them for.
