Proposal to Permit Betting on Federal Elections

CARSON CITY -- Senator Tick Segerblom (D-Las Vegas) has introduced a measure that would legalize betting on federal elections.

Currently it is against the law to bet on the result of any election, success or failure of any person or candidate, number of votes to be cast, either in the aggregate or for any particular candidate, or vote to be cast by any person. People found guilty of placing such bets face gross misdemeanor charges.

The proposal was introduced during the senate floor session at the Nevada State Legislature Monday.
