Washington, D.C. -- There is an official proclamation from President Obama for the Thanksgiving holiday.

He encourages Americans to be thankful for what they have, but adds "As many pause to lend a hand to those in need, we are also reminded of the indelible spirit of compassion and mutual responsibility that has distinguished our Nation since its earliest days."

The entire proclamation can be read by clicking the link.

On Wednesday, the President will follow the tradition of pardoning a turkey at the White House. This year Cobbler and Gobbler will both be on hand for the event, and one of them will get a pardon. The other is a spare turkey. Both will them be sent to a farm.
