LAS VEGAS (AP) - President Barack Obama is traveling to Las Vegas to lay out his vision for comprehensive immigration legislation.
He is expected to speak shortly before noon at Del Sol High School Tuesday. It is the first trip of his second term.
Latinos now make up more than a quarter of the population of Nevada. They voted for Obama by a 2-to-1 margin last fall.
A 2011 Pew Hispanic Center study found that illegal immigrants account for 7.2 percent of Nevada residents. That's a larger portion than any other state.
Illegal immigrants also play a large role in Nevada's economy, which is driven in part by the construction and hospitality trades. The Pew study found that 10 percent of the state's workforce is unauthorized.
