Police Investigating Deadly Downtown Reno Shooting

UPDATE: An eyewitness has described hearing noises similar to fireworks before seeing police outside with their guns drawn on a car.

The witness also says a man and a woman were taken out of the car and into custody and that a third male was dead inside.

Police are not saying whether gunfire was exchanged or if it was just the officer who shot. It is being investigated as an officer-involved-shooting. Since it involved an RPD officer, the investigation will be taken over by either Sparks PD or Washoe County Sheriff's Office.

They also won't say what caused the incident in the first place.


RENO, NV - Reno police are investigating a deadly shooting involving a police officer at Arlington and Court in downtown Reno.

The shooting happened around 3pm, with police indicating a "suspect" was shot, apparently by a police officer. The shooting is being investigated by Sparks police and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. As is the case with all police-related shootings, police cars from several local agencies responded to the scene.

Witnesses describe as many as 30 police cars on Court Street in the downtown area. Court is closed at Flint Street and Arlington is shut down from Liberty to Island.

Police haven't released details about the person who was shot.
