UPDATE: E. 4th Street back open and driver is in custody and charges are pending.
RENO - A section of E. 4th Street is shut down after an alleged car thief crashed into a light pole, causing it to fall into the street.
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. Monday night. Reno police tell KOLO 8 News Now officers spotted a Jeep which was reported stolen in the area around Fantasy Girls. When officers tried to pull the vehicle over, the driver tried to escape, but crashed into a light pole. Its unclear when the road will re-open. The driver involved in the crash was taken into custody.
