TRUCKEE, CA - A 24-year-old driver from Placerville was killed Monday morning in a crash in Truckee.
The California Highway Patrol says shortly before 7AM, the driver of a Ford F-250 pickup was headed east on Interstate 80, east of Donner Pass Road. the pickup went off the road and down an embankment, hitting several large boulders.
The passenger made his way back up to the road, where drivers saw him and called the CHP. Troopers who went down to the truck found the driver dead of blunt force trauma. The name of the driver hasn't been released.
The passenger sustained a broken wrist, plus cuts and abrasions.
CHP officers don't think alcohol or other drugs were factors in the crash; they are still investigating to try and determine why the truck went off the road.
