LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles police are asking for public help with Facebook and Twitter postings of 42 photographs of women found in the possession of the Grim Sleeper serial murder suspect.
Prosecutors charged 59-year-old Lonnie Franklin Jr. with 10 counts of murder and one count of attempted murder for the deaths of prostitutes and other women who were shot, strangled or both over several decades in Los Angeles. He pleaded not guilty in the death penalty case.
Detectives say photographs of 42 unidentified women taken between the years of 1976 and 2010 are being released Thursday on the social media sites in hopes the public can help identify them.
The photographs were previously released to the news media.
Franklin, a mechanic, was arrested in July 2010.
