One of the newest members of the performance by hip hop band "Tech N9ne" was shot in the buttocks in downtown Reno this morning.
The show was nearly sold out according to the Knitting Factory's web site. It was to feature performances by Krizz Kaliko, Kutt Calhoun, Big Scoob, Jay Rock, Mayday, Stevie Stone, Tragedy. Police haven't said if it was one of those performers who was shot, only that it was a recent addition and an opening act.
The shooting happened at 1:27 Monday morning in the Douglas Alley between the Knitting Factory and the Old Fitzgerald casino. The Alley was where the performer's trailers were parked and it sometimes serves as the Knitting Factory's main entrance.
Police aren't sure what sparked the hail of gunfire, with close to 16 rounds being fired.
When police arrived at the location, they called it a "chaotic" scene in which some suspects ran from police, leading to a short foot pursuit.
Officers say they are confident they have arrested the suspected shooter because he matches the description given by witnesses and had a gun that matched the shell casings that littered the ground.
The shooting happened right after a performance by Tech N9ne. According to police one of the victims that was shot was one of the newest additions to the performance by Tech N9ne, was only with him for a few weeks and was one of the opening acts.
Another victim was also shot, but we don't have any other details. Neither of their injuries are life-threatening. Police say that they do not believe the shooting was gang related and they have not released a motive.
