CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - Nevadans will soon be able to buy a commemorative silver medallion to celebrate the Silver State's 150th birthday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the state's Sesquicentennial Commission picked a design for the 1-ounce medallions this week. They'll feature the state seal on one side and tout the anniversary on the other.

The price is set at $100.50. The first 1,000 will be made in October on an 1868 press at the state museum in Carson City.

Commissioners are also planning to make 2,000 copper medallions that will go for $15 each.

The medallion project got some help from Coeur Rochester mining company in Lovelock, which donated a 1,000-ounce silver bar to the state in May.

Three additional medallion designs are expected to be released for the state's birthday celebration.
