RENO, NV - KOLO 8 News Now has learned former Washoe County School District Police Chief Mike Mieras has filed a lawsuit against District Superintendent Pedro Martinez.
In June 2014, Martinez fired Mieras, saying he wanted to take the police department in a new direction. At the time, Mieras told KOLO the firing came as a complete surprise to him.
Mieras served 20 years on the force, 12 years as chief.
Since Mieras was fired, Superintendent Martinez was let go by the Board of Trustees, but then reinstated.
KOLO 8 News Now is investigating the suit and hopes to have more information through the day.
