RENO, Nev. -- The 8th Annual Operation Scarecrow is officially being called a success.
Operation Scarecrow involves local law enforcement in various Nevada communities going door-to-door, making sure high risk and high profile sex offenders are not participating in Halloween activities that could lure in children.
Officers across Nevada with the Nevada Department of Public Safety conducted residential contacts and surveillance activities to make sure offenders were complying with the law. They contacted 112 homes and did 35 surveillance operations of sex offenders. No arrests were made, and no contraband was seized.
Sex offenders were given "Offender Halloween Restrictions" handouts starting October 1. The offenders are banned from any contact with children and can't take part in Halloween activities.
